Warsaw Pact 1955




The treaty was known as the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance also known as the Warsaw Pact. The treaty was the Soviet Bloc's military response to West Germany on May 1955 integration to NATO pact. The Treaty members where People's Republic of Albania, People's Republic of Bulgaris, German Democratic Republic, People's Republic of Hungary, People's Republic of Poland, People's Republic of Romania, and Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The Members of the Country pleged defense on any member that was attacked.




The Supreme Commander of the Warsaw treaty was the first deputy Minister of Defense of the USSR. Nine years after the defeat of Germany in the years 1933-1945 it only had ended in with the Allies incasion of Germany during World War 2 in europe. Soviet Union and their allies contained each othere in Europe, while working and fighting for influence within the wider Cold War( 1945-91) on 1 July 1991, in Prague, the Czechoslovak president, Vaclav Havel, ended the 1955 Treaty of Friendship. Cooperation and Mutual Assistance and so disestablished the Warsaw Treaty after 36 years of military alliance with the USSR. Five months later, the USSR disestablished itself in December 1991.
